Dentologie is seeking a full-time Dental Hygiene Assistant, working within the hygiene department, you will be responsible for providing a superior patient experience as it relates to Dentologie’s core values.

As a Dental Hygiene Assistant in Chicago, you will be integral in not only providing and exceptional experience during patients first visit to Dentologie, but also for maintaining the great experiences that patients have come to expect as returning patients for their periodic hygiene visits.

Dentologie is comprised of 10 office locations in the Chicagoland area, including: Lincoln Park, South Loop, Streeterville, Bucktown, West Loop, Clark & Diversey, Gold Coast, River North, Southport, and Oak Park/River Forest. 

 Core Responsibilities  

  • Perform a variety of patient care, office and laboratory duties.  
  • Seamless transition between patients with multiple clinical care providers including hygienists and doctors. 
  • Provide a phenomenal Patient experience.  
  • Contribute positively to an engaging employee culture. 
  • Responsible for patient comfort, needs and/or concerns prior to, during and after any clinical visit along with the treating clinical team member.  
  • Ability to confidently educate patients on upcoming procedures and relay to treating clinical team members any patient concerns.  
  • Assist the treating clinical member in providing patients with post-operative care instructions for any dental treatment procedures completed.  
  • Assist team members in opening and closing clinical tasks to include, but not limited to:  
  • Setting up sterilization area for the day, restocking dental supplies in operatories or storage areas, cleaning operatories and common areas, setting up operatories for next day procedures  
  • Effective communication between all departments within the practice relating to patient treatment. 
  • Assist all other teammates and Doctors within the practice in case they require assistance to keep patient appointments on time.  

  Clinical Job Duties   

  • Prepare a treatment room for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols. 
  • Follow infection control protocol by preparing and sterilizing instruments, equipment, and all clinical settings prior to, and after any operative procedures.  
  • Ability to take Bitewings, PAs, CTs and Panoramic radiographs, intra-oral scans and images and dental impressions.  
  • Perform procedures such as coronal polishing, fluoride treatments and flossing for patients. 
  • Accurately and efficiently acquire all information needed during comprehensive, periodic and limited exams which includes patient chief concern, medical history, charting of existing restorations and periodontal pockets with provider, charting of treatment needed with provider, correctly sequencing treatment visits.  
  • Assist Doctor chairside during examination and treatment of patients during a variety of operative procedures including, but not limited to: Restorative, orthodontic, pediatric, endodontic, periodontic, prosthodontic and surgical procedures.

Qualifications and Skills    

Strongly Preferred:  

  • Coronal polishing certification. 
  • Professional dental assistant certificate. 
  • Previous dental assistant experience in a general dentist setting (at least six months).
  • Previous experience with Dentrix Ascend is preferred but not necessary. 
Required:
  • Patient-focused mindset.  
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and multitask in a dynamic healthcare environment.  
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with a diverse workforce.  
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidentiality with patient information.  
  • Be open and receptive to constructive feedback.  
  • Required to work 2 (two) evenings per week.  
  • Must be able to commute between at least 2 (two) of the Dentologie practice locations.
